maybe you prefer "high control group"
hey everyone,.
i have been getting in on going debates with brothers in the congregation about the role of the governing body.
i feel that jehovah would not want us to blindly follow a particular g.b.

if it's ok that the GB errs, and we have to wait on them, what's the difference to "false religion" again? how wrong can a belief be to still call it "the truth"? and on how many lies would you bet your life?
dan, this is primarily for you after the true christian thread broke down (or got blocked), which happened after the discussion diverted into the parallel topics of true agnosticism and true atheism.. this guy's communication skills are incredible.. .

very good.
as a born in jw, i've always believed that jehovah had no beginning per say.
at the same time i've had the house and watch having a creator argument stamped within my brain for use against evolutionists.
some days its difficult rationalising god's existance as having always been, with everything else needing to be created by him.
> The most reasonable conclusion, IMO, is that there MUST be a higher intelligence.
> I think that is less a leap of faith than saying that "nothing caused something".
saying there must be a higher intelligence is pretty much the same leap as saying nothing caused something.
the only reasonable answer is, that nobody knows what happened at the beginning of your universe, in case it had a beginning that is. nobody knows what was before. maybe there was another universe. maybe the universe always existed in a different form. but one thing we can know for sure: the universe was not created by some highly intelligent being.good excuses.
pinkeye.
(highly contagious, and you aren't supposed to touch other people's dishes and glasses.)tuberculosis.
i don't celebrate the memorial, because someone was killed on the next day. true christians don't celebrate birthdays and last supper memorials.
as you may remember, i have a jw window cleaner, one who likes to whistle kingdoom melodies while he works.
drives me crazy!
so i put music on while hes here and it stops him.
rolling stones / guns'n'roses - sympathy for the devil

it's nobodies business what you believe in. i answered any question this way: "this is a very personal question." they'd just wait a few seconds, but then they'd notice that this is just about all i'd tell them...
since jws have been allowed blood fractions for some time now, and sice refusing a life saving blood transfusion is clearly more extreme than the original biblical nutrition commandment, i'm now planning to step into a whole new business:.
blood fraction sausages: hemoglobin mortadella, hot albumin dogs or immunoglobulin salami.. would there be a market for that?
would it be ok for jws to eat those?.
i've used the blood fraction sausage term several times when the topic comes up, right along with the question where they think all the fractions they accept come from if not from donated blood. the looks are priceless.

i ask because i've been posting at jwd/jwn for 10 years now.
i was a rapidly fading jw when i started but still considered myself a christian for a good few years more.
now i've embraced reason and rejected faith i'm a very happy atheist and enjoy learning more about the fact of evolution.. what about you?.
- really studied the bible and found too many flaws to believe in it
- changed from JW defendant to vanilla christian to agnostic to atheist
- went from being an employee to being my own boss now
- started 3 companies, sold 1
- took part in creating a new life
- gained some 20 pounds (but i can still hide them... more or less)
- found several new friends who are also inactive JWs or DFed.
- forgot all the screen names i used on this board a long time ago
